Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers - "Free for All"

Back in July, Capcom re-released their beat-em-up classic, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, on Xbox Live Marketplace and on the Playstation Network to the joy of fighting game junkies everywhere. The game is a direct port from the Dreamcast version, originally released in 2000, with only a few minor, cosmetic changes to allow the game to run smoothly in HD. Unfortunately, the infamous ‘big band-meets-lounge’ soundtrack remained intact as well. Since I refuse to be “taken for a ride”, I opted to take advantage of the 360’s custom soundtrack feature and made my own playlist to pwn n00bs to. “Free for All” was an indispensable track for this purpose. Blakey’s sticks fly like wild fists, raining down blow after blow on his defenseless kit, driving his drums relentlessly into battle on chariots of rhythm. The piano narrates the desperate melee while the brass can only cry out in anguish as it’s swallowed by the maelstrom. This is sonic warfare at its finest, folks.

Sorry for the lack of a YouTube link this time. I tried adding the song myself, but YouTube rejected it for being too long. This leaves you with two options:

Rhapsody: 25 free listens, more than enough to enjoy the sweet sounds of Blakey and co: http://www.rhapsody.com/art-blakey/free-for-all--capitol-usa-catalog

Imeem (my favorite): You can play it as many times as you like here as long as you register. It only takes minute to do so and you get access to even more free music, so, I’d say it’s a win-win:http://www.imeem.com/artists/art_blakey_and_the_jazz_messengers/music/C-7WuGQN/art-blakey-and-the-jazz-messengers-free-for-all/
